Tyler Ludwig - Head Coach, Distance

Coach Ludwig joined the El Capitan Vaquero coaching staff in 2010 as the Head girls coach after having served for seven years as an assistant coach at Steele Canyon in both Track and Cross Country.  As a former Valhalla High School Track and Cross Country athlete, El Capitan is fortunate to have gained a talented coach for both these programs.  Coach Ludwig is a veteran coach with sound experience, knowledge, passion, and enthusiasm.  The Vaqueros should improve under his leadership.

Jeff Hines - Assistant Coach, Distance

Coach Hines begins his ninth year as an El Capitan coach.  In 2010 Coach Hines was named Head boys coach.  He has been a part of the El Capitan program since his son began running for the Vaqueros in 1998.  He was a High School track athlete and cross country runner at Granite Hills in El Cajon under the legendary Coach Wilkins. This experience plus his days as a competitve ultra-marathoner have filled Coach Hines with plenty of knowledge.

Coach Hines is also a Head track coach in which he is usuallly charged with the tutelage of the distance runners.  The Vaquero success over the course of his coaching years is a reflection of his hard work and dedication to these student athletes.

Steve Emery - Assistant Coach, Distance

Coach Emery joined the El Capitan Vaquero coaching staff in 2010 after serving as Head coach  to the Ramona High School Track and Cross Country Team for many years. He ran  with Coach Hines as a Track and Cross Country runner for Granite Hills High School.  He brings a wealth of knowledge and years of coaching experience to the Vaquero Track and Cross Country programs.  His coaching style and strategic abilities should undoubtedly benefit El Capitan athletes. 

George Maize - Assistant Coach, Jumps

In his 4th season with the Vaqueros, Coach Maize will handle all the the jump coaching duties.   Coach Maize was the essential figure in bringing back some of the tradition and success to both the vertical and horizontal jumps in 2005.

A 1982 Graduate of Granite Hills High School, coach Maize was a 3-Year Varsity Letterman in track and field. Coach Maize has high school personal records of 6'4 in the High Jump, 43'10 in the Triple Jump, 22'3 in the Long Jump, and 39.9 in the 300 Low Hurdles.

George Maize has been married to his wife Tina for 16 years. He has a son, Ryan (12th Grade), and a daughter, Melissa (8th Grade).
