The Monarchs Won The Grossmont South League Title In 2004 And The CIF Div. II Title

 Grossmont South Individual Title

The Grossmont South League Individual Crown is going to be the one to watch this year. The top two runners enter this season in almost a dead tie in regards to a favorite. The nod must go to Josh Sandoval of Granite Hills since he has been the victor in the previous match-ups, all though all were very close. Tony Bareno of Valhalla is the other part of this duo which will combine for many exciting duels. Both of these runners are succesful on the CIF level and look this year to make an impact all the way to the state level. The Grossmont South League Title is going to be the first step towards a very succesful season for both runners. A trio of runners will be giving a close chase to these two runners. Fellow Eagle, Alex Guaderrama looks to move up the pack and hopes to be pulled along by Josh Sandoval as they will attempt to both sneak by Bareno. Also a duo from defending Grossmont Conference and CIF Div II champs, Monte Vista Monarchs, look to move up right with Guaderrama. Michael Ramierez and Patrick Palmiter will likely split time as the number 1 Monarch runner this year and will be looking to break into this lead pack. This battle is going to be a very exciting one.

 Grossmont North Individual Title

Dan Gonia looks to be another repeat winner this year in the Grossmont North League action. Following a break through year last year in cross country and the continuation of that in track and field Gonia has his sights on nothing less then another individual title. Few would say that by the end of the 2005 season that Dan will be disappointed. Yet this one is not over just yet. The former heir apparent to the awesome West Hills lineage looks to reclaim his early career form as he tries to surpass his teammate this year for the individual title. Looking to crash the party will be last years Grossmont Conference number one Freshmen runner, El Capitan's Kyle Phipps. Phipps moved up to Varisty late in the season yet finished with a 4th place finish in League FInals and was also the 5th best Freshmen in CIF through all divisions. After a year to adjust and train Kyle looks to end the string of Wolf Pack Individual League Titles.
