El Capitan High School Track and Cross Country anually hosts both the Vaquero Stampede Cross Country Invitational and the Frosh-Soph Track and Field Invitational. Additionally the Vaquero Staff hosts a Junior Olympics for the youth of Lakeside to come and compete at El Capitan in Track and Field Events. Coaches Challenge is the annual Cross Country fundraiser.
